Venue Review

An attractive, urbane lounge called Eyebar, which features DJs
spinning house and trance music, pricey cocktails, leather sofas and a strict
dress code. It’s a far cry from Tracks and all-night warehouse parties.

Located in a second-story walk-up next to the Bottom Line saloon, Eyebar
is a simple, almost spartan space with clean, modern lines. Banquettes and a
thin strip of mirrors line one wall, facing a row of low cocktail tables and
chairs; “individual drink rails” are mounted on another wall, looking a bit like
oddly spaced xylophone bars. There are couches and tables for VIP bottle service
in the rear and very front of the room, a medium-size bar in the middle and a
small, mobile DJ booth that can be moved around the room.

The Best DC Nightspots of 2004 - washingtonsocialites.com

The best place for 2004 would have to be Eyebar. Opening in mid-2004, Eyebar became quickly popular with
their cover-free Saturday night party. Anyone used to be able to get in but this
changed as their popularity increased; you now need to be on the guestlist or at
least know someone who works there, which isn’t at all hard if you are
determined.

The highlight of Eyebar for men is definitely the bathroom,
where you can urinate in a waterfall trough and then look under the sink to see
reflections from the ladies bathroom underneath.

AOL City Guide

Surrounded by office buildings and international agencies teeming with bright
young things, lounge and DJ haunt Eyebar, located on I St also known as “Eye” —
Street, is in the perfect place to make a killing. With few clubs in the
immediate vicinity, almost daily drink specials and a roster of fashionable
regulars, Eyebar has all the elements to make it an after-work and weekend
hit.

Luckily, the club also has an impressive pedigree. Owners Andre
Demoya and Lieven DeGeyndt have been major-league contributors to the DC
nightlife scene at such clubs as Tracks and Spy Club for more than a decade.
They have brought their expertise to Eyebar, and have filled it with modern
furniture, upbeat house and trance music, low lighting and a full bar. Though
the second-floor club lures in an attractive, well-heeled clientele, there is a
small VIP section for those who prefer not to
mingle.
